On my recent trip to Ikea, to look at and ogle the Ektorp, I went throught the marketplace. These are the glasses I always buy:
I like the shape, the size fits my cabinet nicely, and the price- $.59! They hold up well, since each day, I think every glass in the house gets used and thrown placed in the dishwasher.
Walking a little further, I saw the 100 tea lights for $3, I think, and theses cuties.
They come in different shapes and colors and were $.89! I only bought 2 bc I think it is not a good buy if I buy more. (that's my mom whispering in my ear...she was the Queen of Thriftiness! How I miss shopping with her!!!) They are so cute, tho'!
I put them here...but forgot to take the pic! So imagine -and will use them on the Thanksgiving table!!
Before that, I grabbed a few Mag holders for my too many Country Living and Better Homes. Better Homes, I can part with or pass on to somone else...sometimes. I keep all the holiday...that means Halloween through Christmas. Country Living- I have all...I am beginning to sort through, but I like to relook! So this pack was 3.49 for 5 and I will decoupage them! ....or leave them white.
So, that's my Ikea Frugalicious Friday. Please go to see Jane at Finding Fabulous to see more Frugalicious Friday fun. Hers is a pretty lamp...but I won't tell you more!
This weekend I am looking at a craigslist find...cross your fingers that it is in the condition they say!!! I will give you this hint...
I always forget about Ikea! It's a bit of a drive for me, but I'm always seeing some great things people get at a great price. Like magazine holders! I could use some of those myself.
ReplyDeletei have these same glasses, a set of 12 that my MIL gave me - had no idea they were from IKEA. they are great glasses, aren't they? and now i know where to get replacements when i get a broken one!
ReplyDeleteI love Ikea! The tea lights are such a great deal and you can never have too many.
ReplyDelete@Cheap Chic Home. Thanks for doing the leg work for us! I just drove past IKEA today and thought about stopping. And I was just thinking I needed to replenish my plain drinking glasses. BTW, I'm becoming a follower.
ReplyDeleteIkea did have some great things lately!

I hope the Craig's List sofa comes through for you! I do love my Ektorp sofa and the white slipcover washes well. I have two toddlers, two cats, and teenagers at my house all the time and it looks great fresh out of the wash. The only two things that stink about it, is it shrinks, even when washed in cold water and dried on low, so it becomes pretty challenging to get back on. Mine has even torn in a couple of places. The second thing is the zippers are really cheap, so all of mine have broken. I just use safety pins to close the cushions. But, it's only $50.00, which is cheaper than I could make it myself. I just buy a new cover every year and half or so. Also, it's not pure white, so if you get to the point where you're going to use bleach on it, you need to soak it in bleach the first time. If you use it in the wash, it will be spotty. It's a great sofa and these little things are worth putting up with.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteGreat buys at Ikea. I get jealous when I read Ikea posts because we don't have one remotely close to where I live. My sisters live in TX and there is one that sits a couple of miles from both of their houses so I drag them there any time I get a chance to go visit.
Thanks for stopping by my blog...it's always nice hearing from new people.
Have a great Sunday.
Jane
Hi Nancy and what a great deal on those glasses and candles. I love to go to Ikea but it's a little trip for me - probably about 50 miles. So I have to really plan a trip when I go there.
ReplyDeleteOh, good luck with the Criagslist sofa!
Thank you so much for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
I haven't been here in a while and missed out. I love Craigslist and we have purchased most of our living room from people here in the valley. Nice furniture, near new. Thank you so much for stopping by Robin's Egg Blues! Good Luck!

IKEA is definitely the place for us girls who are "frugal." I just bought some plates there for next-to nothing! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm getting really excited about my trip to the IKEA store in Atlanta in two weeks...you see I have never been to IKEA before...is there anything special that I should look for? You have an awesome blog...I have had a FUN time looking around at it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
Hi Nancy!
ReplyDeleteIKEA came to Phoenix about two years ago. I always though it would be to contemporary for me but there are TONS of great finds there! My favorite area if where all the accessories are but I found a few pieces of furniture that work great in my house.
Thanks for coming over for a visit!

I've never been a huge fan of Ikea...until recently. They have such wonderful things that can easily fit into any decor.
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Ektorp Sofa and Loveseat from Kijiji for $200.00 and it came with two sets of covers, one black and one green. I've washed the twice now and I know the previous owner has washed the several times.
I hope you get the sofa, you will love it.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you on the sofa. Good for you for purchasing the "green way"! Better to save money, and save space at teh landfill at the same time. You can make it into something beautiful! Why buy new when it's just not necessary? I love your blog and your outlook on life. What a lovely place you've created. I've signed up as a follower and will certainly visit you often. Please feel free to link any of youw wonderful projects to my boardwalk bragfest on Wednesday. I would love to have you!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great Ikea finds alright! I love those sturdy glasses and tea lights too. We finally have an Ikea in Charlotte...I've got to find the time to go! Thanks for linkin' up to Frugalicious Friday
