Any ideas on what to do with this wall? Stupid A/C in full view as you walk in . This is the view from the dining room as you enter family room. Ridiculous light fixture we have had since we moved in 20 years ago. We just painted Restrained Gold (Sherwin Williams) and I love the color! I found it on The Nester. I have not rehung any pictures except the big one over the piano. It is the only place it will fit and "has" to go up. Please excuse puppy cage in corner! Help?

ReplyDeleteCan you extend your curtains over the a/c unit? And just open them when you have it running? They look to be about the same height?
Enjoy your weekend!

I saw your comment yesterday at kimba's and gave my suggestion there in her comments!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I used to have one of these also...right in the middle of my living room wall, over the sofa. Ugh! It was always a problem for me too and I never was able to come up with a great solution. The best I could ever do was paint the plastic cover the same color as the wall to help it blend in a little. Eventually we were able to take it out when we installed central heat and air. To see that eyesore go was one of the happiest decorating days of my life. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your comments! So far painting the unit can be the first solution...next to find shutters to make a box. The only shutters that I have found so far are crazy expensive because of the size...I will have to keep my eyes open at yard sales and garbage day!

I would suggest pretending there is a window where the a/c is. Put up rods and drapes to match the real window. Can you eliminate the light fixture all together? It looks from the photo that it is in a random spot.
ReplyDeleteIt is in a ridiculous spot! I am thinking that maybe I should just get rid of it... and get another lamp! I could think about s curtain.
