Procrastionation Project

Well, here is the project. I found a desk on Craigslist. We went to see it. It seemed ok, but it was in a tight spot and since it was my first time, so we took it for $20. I was a little apprehensive, but I, as a brand new blogger, showed a pic of it to Rhoda at Southern Hospitality and she said that I couldn't go wrong with a $20 desk and that it would look good in black. Here it is before-

A little wood glue and a good clean up and off to get paint. My husband wanted in on this so I said he could help! He wanted the glory, no doubt, after I showed him how wonderful so may of all of your projects have come out. We got the Rustoleum Universal Satin finish paint. Probably spent too much, but it was our "first time". We primed it and here we go-

Everything was on schedule, then we had rain for days and I wasn't sure of the humidity. Finally we could finish as the sun came out. Yeah! So we sprayed and stood back and were thrilled and left it to dry. So.....who knew about the pollen that was everywhere after the rainy days? The desk surface was covered, because it was the last surface painted. That is my excuse...like the dog ate my homework. We sanded the top and resprayed with the desk on its side away from the door of the garage. We think tomorrow will be a better day. Fingers crossed!

  1. I think I have the same desk. It's looking good. Dang pollen. Why does Mother Nature need to ruin a good party?

  3. Love the desk so far! It's amazing what paint can do! I have painted probably 15 pieces of furniture in the past 2 years. Stay tuned because...dang...after all that hard work you can bet I'm going to be showing it all on my blog, sooner or later...every single piece!

It's after midnight here and I'm working on a draft post about my yellow guest room/office with the blue plates...and Craigslist furniture I painted! For a while I was a real Craigslist junkie but I think I'm in remission now. (But only because I don't have the space for any more furniture.) LOL!

  6. Desks are so great because they are pretty versatile for usage and can be put in basically every room. I like that you went with black and can't wait to see it finished, especially with drawer pulls and accessories.

  8. Oh, you did good on getting a desk! They are versatile so you can't go wrong! Except with the pollen. I have the same issue here, that is one of the reasons I didn't finish my chairs. It was either raining or windy most of the time!

Your desk looks great, you will be so happy with it!

I am so glad you joined in the party, and welcome to blogging!!! Have fun!
